The improved charcoal stove (SEWA stove) reduces fuel consumption by introduction of a ceramic liner that increases combustion efficiency and retains heat. The project is based on pilot work by Katene Kadji, Mali. Katene was established in 1995 and has been selling improved biomass cook stoves in Mali since 1997.
